This past week has been filled with lots of love and cheerful birthday celebrations! My sister's birthday was on February 4th. I basically attacked her at midnight (I love it when people do that) with her birthday prize (a yoga gift certificate)! She was thrilled! I also surprised her in the morning with apple pancakes. I used the Bob's Red Mill pancake mix, which is surprisingly gluten/wheat free and delicious. They ended up being a little more brown than my liking, but I haven't made pancakes in awhile so I was happy with the result. My sister had the day off to relax and have a day to herself. Andres took her out to The Ravenous Pig where she had a nice steak dinner, then we surprised her with a small get-together at home. Andres ordered a carrot cake from The Dessert Lady. Seriously. I did not know that carrot cake could be that good! The cake itself was gorgeous and ironically enough, upon closer examination, was misspelled. All I can say is that I really hope that Janelle had a "Happy Birtday!"
The celebration continued on February 6th in St. Augustine for my very dear friend, Jessie's birthday. A group of us met at a new Mexican restaurant for her birthday dinner. Followed by lots of catching up with friends, more carrot-birthday-cake and dancing. I hope that Miss Lane had a lovely birthday as well. She is a gem, which is something that I wouldn't say about just anybody.
It was interesting to learn that two of my best friends share very close birthdays. Although it does make sense that I am attracted to and feel comfortable around people who share their similar astrological attributes. Both Janelle and Jessie are Aquarians; strong, outspoken, eloquent, and creative. They inspire me to continually be creative when I am feeling stuck in a rut and lazy.
A week or so after I moved in I was using my sister's computer and noticed that she had a beautiful background photo. After commenting about how much I liked it, she showed me the blog that she retrieved the photo from. An amazing art blog, BOOOOOOOM had a feature with 64 photographs by 64 different artists, claimed by the blogger to be some of the best of 2009. They were all beautiful! After slowly looking at each photograph I continued to scroll through the rest of the blog. I found that an artist from Vancouver started the blog in efforts to create a community for artists to share, create, and inspire. The site displays artwork media such as painting, photography, design, film, music, and other "junk." Right now they are working on a collaborative project to aid Haiti. Check out the artists' work and support a good cause!
I love love love love love Betsy Walton's work. A friend recently shared her Etsy site with me and I was blown away. So dream-like, radiating positive energy. I was happy to see that she, among other fabulous artists are banning together to support disaster relief. Now the question is, what can I do to help out?
Love,
K
